Dover Downs Harness Racing

The return of fall means the return of fast horses and the country’s most talented drivers to the 5/8-mile harness racing oval at Dover Downs.  Every year, Dover Downs kicks off its 6-month long racing season with The Progress Pace, the track’s signature event with a total purse of over $400,000 up for grabs to the best three-year-old pacing colts and geldings in the sport.

Starting in late October, the racing continues through early April, and is sure to wow crowds with lightning-fast speeds, hair-splitting photo finishes, and plenty of longshots!  The views of the action are wonderful whether dining in the finely appointed Winner’s Circle® Restaurant, or simply relaxing in the spacious grandstand.  Post times are 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and 5:30 p.m. on weekends.  Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant and can be made by calling 302-674-4600.  Parking and admission are free.

Dover Downs also offers simulcast horse racing from across the country everyday from noon to midnight.  Racing from top tracks such as Churchill Downs, Belmont, Saratoga, Del Mar, Gulfstream, and The Meadowlands just to name a few, can be watched and wagered on daily in the beautiful simulcast area on the 3rd floor of the grandstand.  A horse racing host is on staff to accommodate your every racing need or question at 302-857-3225.  See you at Dover Downs!
