The Great Hall (Main Exhibit Building) is the home for an 18th Century Log House, the first Broiler Chicken House, a Crop Duster plus 12,000 Artifacts and many Changing Exhibits. One of the most interesting exhibits is an important collection of original folk art carvings by local artist Jehu Camper of Harrington. The museum also houses a variety of antique tractors and farm equipment. Children can milk a “cow” and play in the Touch of History “House” and “School” plus enjoy other fun activities throughout the exhibits.
Museum visitors can virtually step back in time to see how a rural community looked at the turn of the century by taking a walk through the village of 21 buildings & structures behind the museum. The village includes a mill, blacksmith shop, church, school, farmhouse, barn, wagon shed, granary, hen house, barbershop, general store, Loockerman Landing’s train station and more. The Museum also has wonderful special living history events and seasonal festivals throughout the year, with costumed interpreters, demonstrations, workshops and children's activities. Popular events include “Farmers Spring” in April, “Goblins & Goodies” in October and “A Farmer’s Christmas” in December. For exact dates & times, please check out our calendar of events on our website. We also offer School Programs, Day Camps, a Research Library and The Village Emporium (Gift Shop).
