Odessa is a 30-minute drive north of Dover. From the
Odessa exit on Route 1, take US 13 into town and turn onto Main Street
at the traffic light.
Open March through mid-November, the Historic Houses
of Odessa is an outstanding enclave of four 18th century buildings owned
and operated by Winterthur Museum and Garden: The Corbit-Sharp House (1774,
Georgian style), Wilson-Warner House (1769, Georgian style), Brick Hotel
(Federal style) with the permanent exhibit of Belter Furniture from 1840-1860,
and the Collins-Sharp House (1700, log and frame structure), one of the
oldest houses in Delaware.
Group Tours
Guided tours begin at the Brick Hotel. Costumed
interpreters demonstrate open hearth cooking and kitchen gardening on
Fridays and Saturdays. The Historic Houses of Odessa also offers group
tour dining options, from hearth cooked breakfasts to candlelight dinner
tours and formal teas. Meals may be served in the buildings, fieldstone
stable, or the garden. A self-guided walking tour brochure is also available.
