Group Tours

Open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Saturady 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Closed state holidays. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. From US 13 or 113 in Dover, turn onto Court Street and follow it around Legislative Hall, where it becomes one way (Duke of York Street). The Delaware State Visitor Center is at the end of Duke of York Street.

The visitor center is a great first stop on your visit to downtown Dover. In addition to tourism information, the visitor center includes two museum galleries with changing exhibits on Delaware art, history and culture. Individual and group tours of the State House, and walking tours of downtown Dover start here, and are available by advance appointment. The museum store on site has delightful items related to Delaware and the Delaware State Museums, including books, jewelry, handcrafted items, shirts and souvenirs. The free Biggs Museum of American Art is located on the second and third floors above the State Visitor Center.

Group Rates: Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
Tour Tips: Allow 30 minutes to 1 hour to explore the visitor center and museum store. One motorcoach maximum per tour. Motorcoach parking available on-site, for one bus only, tight entrance circle. Reservations required a minimum of two weeks in advance. 

Group tour topics at the visitor center include “The Changing Exhibit Gallery” (current exhibitions) and for children, “The Site is Right” (highlights of Delaware people, places, and events), and “State Symbols.” Contact Delaware State Museums for a complete listing of Group Tour Programs. The Visitor Center is within a short walking distance to the State House on The Green.
